Start from Control Center

On a Face ID iPhone, swipe down from the top-right corner. With a Home button, swipe up from the bottom. Requires iOS 18 or later.

    Open the control gallery

    In Control Center, tap + at the top left, then Add a Control.

    Tap when a thought arrives

    Leave editing mode, then tap your new control to open Current Card. Write your thought and confirm it in the app.

Give the Action button one quiet job

For iPhone models with an Action button. If your iPhone has a Ring/Silent switch, use Control Center instead.

    Open Settings → Action Button. Swipe until you reach Shortcut.

    Press and hold the Action button to open Current Card. Write one thing, then confirm it in the app.

A little help with setup

Can’t find Current Card?

Update and open Current Card once, then return to the control gallery or shortcut picker and search again. These two entry points use different names, shown in the steps above.

Why does it ask me to unlock?

iOS may require you to unlock before opening the app. Unlock your iPhone, then continue writing in Current Card.

Sharing and Pinned Paper are available in 1.2.0.

Keep it in sight

For a Home Screen widget, touch and hold the Home Screen, choose Edit → Add Widget, then Current Card. Create a card in the app first. For temporary Live Activity display, tap Keep in sight; Stop showing ends that display while keeping the card in Now. iOS controls availability and duration.

Read, edit and let go

Tap the current card to edit; scroll long text without holding. In 1.2.0, hold and drag right to let go, up to share, or down to delete. A swipe without holding browses Card Trail. Let go clears Now and the visible system surfaces without judging whether the thought is finished.

Revisit a past card

Enable Card Trail in Settings, then swipe left or right in the card area. Tap a past card to turn it over and add an optional phrase or photo. The five most recent cards are free; Pro opens the complete trail.

Choose Bring back to Now on a past card. If another card is there, it is let go first. The same card returns with its theme and back, without leaving a duplicate in Card Trail.

Choose a theme

Open Themes beside Settings, or from Settings. Choose a collection and theme, then Apply theme. The current card and app appearance follow your choice, which is also used for new cards; past cards retain their saved themes. Moss, Sakura and Dusk remain free.

Buy Pinned Paper separately, or use it with Pro. Buy Print Studio separately, or use it with Pro. The theme pack does not unlock Show Mode or other Pro features. Buy Luminous once as a separate collection, or use it with Pro.

Use Show Mode

  1. Open the card you want to show and tap Show. Show Mode requires Pro; a separately purchased theme collection does not unlock it.
  2. Choose Static or Scroll. In Scroll, choose Slow, Medium or Fast, and pause or resume whenever you like.
  3. Controls hide after two seconds of inactivity; tap the screen to reveal them. Close returns to the same card. With Reduce Motion, scrolling starts paused.

The app must stay in the foreground. A card back or photo remains static; rotating the ordinary card view does not require Pro.

Share your cards

  1. In 1.2.0, hold a current or accessible past card and drag up to open the sharing preview.
  2. Choose one to three cards. Drag to arrange them, and tap a theme name to choose an unlocked theme.
  3. Choose whether to show status and dates. Include a back note or photo only if you want to share it.
  4. Tap Share to open the system share sheet. Closing the preview keeps your original cards unchanged.

Back notes and photos are included only when you choose them. Sharing leaves your original cards as they are.

Current Card does not send your card text to us. Email support is optional and separate from the app. Read the Privacy Policy.
